Passive flow control in wind turbine blade by geometrical optimization of vortex generator

A wind turbine is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical by its rotary action. In this paper, turbine’s lift and power characteristics are improved employing vortex generator as passive flow control on the surface of turbine. triangular used for study simplicity in design effective results. NACA 4418 airfoil selected conceptual BEM (Blade Element Momentum theory), geometrical modeling carried out using SOLIDWORKS. Computational analysis blade with generators done ANSYS CFX, clean verified Q Blade. The parameters considered optimization chordwise position (x vg ), Height (h Inclination from baseline(β keeping fixed spacing (s ). By optimizing parameters, increment observed alongside delay separation point, which agrees experimental This investigation can be extended to future unconventional shapes such ogive, vane, wishbone through tunnel field tests.
